Our Safety is Interconnected

Lotus Bloom Stands in Solidarity with AAPI Families against violence.

Dear Community,

Our hearts are made so heavy by the continued violence against the AAPI community in our neighborhoods and we mourn for the eight lives lost this week in Atlanta. We understand this pandemic of violence is not new, and has historic roots in the same systemic racism we have been reckoning with as a country since the summer of 2020.

At Lotus Bloom, we believe that the safety of our entire community is interconnected. In the same way that if one of us is bound we are not yet all free, if one of us is not safe, we are all not yet safe. In these times, we lean on the long history of Black, Indigenous, Latinx and Asian solidarity as a guide forward. From the United Farmworkers Movement to fight for better working conditions, to the Third World Liberation Front's demands for people of color to have the right to education, we must remember that we stand on the shoulders of multicultural movements of communities coming together in solidarity for a more just society.

Since our inception in 2006, Lotus Bloom has continued to be a place in the community where families can celebrate cultural, linguistic, and unique diversity, while appreciating and respecting the collective differences and commonalities that make our neighborhoods and city so vibrant and special.

We invite you to take actions towards love, and come together in support Asian American and Pacific Islander families with us through education, action, generosity and advocacy.
